Dubuque Museum of Art Baseball Exhibit and Overnight Stay Package
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s traveling exhibit is a collection of the world’s premiere baseball photographs, spanning some 150 years of the sport’s history. Picturing America’s Pastime features a selection of these timeless photographs, each accompanied by the words of those who were there and those who echoed the sentiments of photographer Charles Conlon.
As baseball became our “National Pastime,” a new art form— photography—was there to document the sport. From the grandeur of the early game to the vibrancy of today’s big league action, almost every facet of baseball has been captured in sepia, black-and-white and color. The exhibition traces the history of baseball, and inextricably, the history of America.
Highlights include history-making photos of Babe Ruth, Roberto Clemente, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Lou Gehrig, Ichiro, Carlton Fisk, Yogi Berra and many others.
Also enjoy the companion exhibition, Dubuque – An Early Cradle of Professional Baseball. America’s favorite pastime has a deeply-rooted history in the Dubuque area. Relive local baseball history and celebrate this remarkable collection of baseball memorabilia.
