A free public reception and lecture on the life of Dr. Henry Rose will be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hotel Julien Dubuque on Sunday, October 1st  from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Research on Dubuque’s Dr. Herny C. Rose, a prominent local African American community leader in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century, shows he served the Union cause with the 11th Missouri S.M. Cavalry during the Civil War and lays in an unmarked grave in Linwood Cemetery. Hear about his life and times and the efforts to mark his grave and tell his amazing story.
