What path brought you to Hotel Julien Dubuque? Please share a little bit about your
professional background and what led you to this industry.
While in college, I began managing retail clothing stores. I continued growing in retail management while my husband and I moved around the country for his Naval career. I took a step back when our oldest was 2 due to childcare restraints and was a stay at home parent to our two boys for a few years. I’ve always liked helping bring a smile to people’s faces and found a new way to do that in the hospitality industry!

What are you most passionate about professionally?
I love to see our guests having a great time and getting to be a part of the process that makes it easy to enjoy all that the Hotel Julien Dubuque has to offer!

What are you passionate about personally? What is your favorite way to spend a free weekend?
I am most passionate about my family. My husband, two boys, and extended family are who I spend my free time with! On weekends we go to the kid’s soccer games, get coffee together and catch up with everyone, and we like to attend plays, musicals, and other performances. Even with busy lives, we try to find ways to make memories and share experiences as a family.

What are some of your favorite things to do in the Dubuque area?
I like to explore the locally owned shops and restaurants and also like to go to the vendor markets like the Farmer’s Market, Arts and Craft Fairs, etc.

What do you love most about Hotel Julien Dubuque?
I love the history of the Hotel and that we are consistently finding out more unique bits of the past that tie the hotel to the history of the Dubuque area.

What is your personal motto?
Go with the flow!

Describe your typical work day.
I do a lot of behind-the-scenes paperwork and help the Sales Managers on both the lodging and catering sides of the business.

Is there anything else that you’d like to share?
I’ve lived or worked in Iowa, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Georgia, Virginia, and Washington State and have always lived near a large river, ocean, and even on an island!
