FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dubuque, Iowa (January 2, 2013) – Hotel Julien Dubuque in downtown Dubuque, Iowa reached a significant milestone sooner than expected, welcoming its 100,000th reservation Sunday, December 23, 2012. This is no small feat when you consider this historic independent hotel has a total of 133 guest rooms and suites and has been counting only since 2009 when a $34 million restoration of the hotel was completed.

The front desk staff was poised with gifts when Jordan and Jessica Hein from Cedar Falls, Iowa checked in on the afternoon of December 23. This was the couple’s first visit to the hotel and was a replacement for a planned trip to Florida that had to be cancelled due to snow. The Heins were treated to an upgrade to the famous Capone Suite, signature robes, refreshments, and gifts by which to remember their stay at Hotel Julien Dubuque.

According to hotel general manager Dwight Hopfauf, the staff was counting down the days and check-ins, eager for the big moment. “There’s something very special about working at a historic hotel that’s been brought back in all its glory and we get to celebrate that every day,” said Hopfauf. “Being able to reach our 100,000th reservation was an especially gratifying moment for all of us.” Hopfauf added that, while the 100,000th reservation is a significant achievement, it actually represents several hundred thousand guests, as many reservations are for two to three or up to five people staying for each reservation. “That’s quite a few travelers who have enjoyed the beauty of the hotel and the professional service of our staff.”
