FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dubuque, Iowa (January 10, 2011) – Since its $33+ million renovation was fully completed last year, the Hotel Julien Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa’s historic downtown district has been turning heads.  First, the hotel was reviewed in the travel pages of the Chicago Tribune and Minneapolis Star Tribune newspapers.  Then it was the featured property for Iowa in the Martha Stewart Weddings 2010 travel issue in an article titled “50 Ways to Wed in the United States,” with the writers noting that the “historic venue is often the choice of Iowa brides wishing to be married in the same place as their great-grandmothers.”

Now comes the latest honor for the property – a #6 spot in the “Top Ten Best New Places to Eat, Play & Stay” story in the January/February 2011 issue of Midwest Living magazine.  The story profiles places that opened or were renovated in the last year, with the magazine’s travel team visiting 100 properties before narrowing the list to their top picks.  In describing the Hotel Julien Dubuque, they wrote: “A no-expense-spared renovation at this luxe historic property in the Old Main District includes reclaimed artifacts from its original grandeur.”
